Peas are our future

Apetit Sverige AB is a company in continuous development, focusing on the cultivation and sale of frozen green peas. Thanks to the strong tradition and extensive expertise of growers in Skåne and Halland, the company has quickly built a green platform that is expected to harvest tens of thousands of tons of green peas in the coming years. With the growing interest in legumes as future food, there is significant growth potential, and Apetit Sverige is well positioned to meet the demand for sustainable and nutritious food products.

Our story – the history of Foodhills

The founders behind the business idea of Foodhills AB are Bengt Göran Persson and Erik Paulson, who, with their vision of circular food production contributing to sustainable global development, aim to pave the way for a greener future.

In 2017, the Findus factory in Bjuv was closed, affecting 650 employees and forcing many growers across Skåne to adjust. However, as early as 2016, a regional coordinator was appointed to minimize the negative impact of the closure.

At the end of 2016, Foodhills AB was established, with Bengt Persson as CEO and chairman, and in the spring of 2017, work began on developing the facility. On February 1, 2018, Foodhills AB gained access to the premises.

In 2019, Karl Vilhelm Beckman was appointed CEO, shifting the focus toward realizing all ideas with a commercial purpose. Demand for plant-based proteins has been steadily increasing, and in 2022, Foodhills produced 14,000 tons of peas. The goal is to increase volumes every year.

In 2022, a completely new production facility was launched in Bjuv.

Foodhills AB is now located at Origon Park, previously known as Foodhills Fastigheter.

In 2025, Foodhills AB invested in a new packing line, which broadens the market and allows Foodhills to control its production from seed to consumer packaging. Late 2025, Backahill sold Foodhills AB to the Finnish company Apetit Plc – the next step in the company’s development. In February 2026, Foodhills AB became Apetit Sverige AB.
